Hey guess what, my incredibly gorgeouso ladyfriend from Argentina, Paula Selby Avellaneda, has come up trumps again with yet more AMAZING CLOTHES. I’m not really a fashion person day-to-day as anyone who’s seen me in real life will know only too well. I live in gym clothes and slippers. But godddamnit I want to look FABULOUS on stage and with these babies, I surely will…..
It’s like Joan of Arc went to Jupiter to learn how to program the Moog with the Wizard of Oz.

I recently fell in love with the work of this young lass having been drawn in like a magpie to her technicolour kaleidoscope style images such as this:
Her work really reminds me of growing up in the 90′s and wearing full Benetton denim suits in contrasting acid green and orange and bright blue Kickers hi-tops. And listening to Brownstone and Tribe Called Quest. I contacted her to say hi and she was on the train from Norwich within 2 days with her camera and a big pot of glitter.
Her work is so refreshing and youthful, and she is really lovely and easy to work with.
Remember this?
This is one of my favourite music videos (of my own!) and it was made by Tim Brown, who at that point was a recent graduate and working as a new kid in my mate’s production company. Soon after making this, he moved on to making videos for Tinie Tempah, SBTRKT, Ghostpoet, Marina and the Diamonds, as well as art directing some pretty cool stuff for Google and others. One of the most exciting things about my album campaign is the fact I’ve been able to hook him back in to make me a couple more videos and the album artwork ended up being made up from stills from music video trials. This is the album artwork:
And this is the image for the single ‘I Call This Home’:
They remind me a bit of Storm Thorgerson’s work:
We spent the day and night on a farmyard with a team of arty-buildy-set-design guys and built various shapes with logs and wire. It took us a long time to work out the best way to keep something properly alight for long enough to film and photograph, and after a while, threw H&S out of the window and loaded up some NERF guns with good old petrol. Not advisable but all the safe stuff went out within seconds. Check this beauty out:
Legendary times.
Video to follow. Woo.
That title was just to make you read this. Really he did it himself, I just helped him record it and stuff.
Anyway, As some may know through here, I used Pledgemusic to allow my fans to get involved in the making of my album by paying for it up-front. I also sold all my costumes, singing lessons and other fun activities to raise money to keep Saint Saviour running. One of the activities most educational for me personally was ‘Record a demo’ – strangers coming to my house to sit in my TINY studio and work on a song to record. It was a bit nervewracking to think about but each experience (i did 5) was unique, interesting and fun.
I’ve asked permission to share this one because the song itself is so interesting and the process was so non-traditional! I like how he has typed ‘cats’ into the ‘type of song’ part of soundcloud. I like how the song was inspired by a love and reverence for Japan and a book by Haruki Murakami. Most of all I just like the song, so have a listen.
